Is it good to listen to music while studying?

We're seeing more and more students bring headphones with them to libraries and classes. But does listening to music while studying really help?

Research shows that listening to music has a number of positive effects on the brain. Since music activates both the left and right brain at the same time, it can boost your memory and make you study more effectively. Also, music helps you to de-stress, allowing you to focus better in class.

However, it should not be forgotten that these effects also vary depending on the music and the person. So, listening to songs with lyrics can distract you and distract you from studying. Therefore, it is considered more ideal to listen to classical music. Also, if you acclimate yourself to studying with music, studying in non-musical environments may become problematic later on.

Either way, if music helps you study and has a positive effect on your results, you should keep doing it.
